What does an access control system do for a business?

An access control system replaces loose keys with credentials you can issue, limit and cancel. Each door, gate or entrance gets a reader or keypad and an electronic lock, and the system decides who can open it and at what times. When an employee leaves or a tenant moves out, you remove their access instead of changing the locks. BGS Security designs commercial access control from a site assessment: which doors need control, who needs access where, and how it should work with the alarm and cameras you already have.

  • Access by person, door and schedule — staff, cleaners, vendors and tenants each get only what they need
  • Lost card or departing employee? Cancel the credential; the locks stay as they are
  • Event logs of who opened which door and when, as supported by the selected equipment
  • Compatibility with your existing alarm and cameras checked by model before we recommend an integration

Which access control systems do we install?

The right door access control system depends on the building, the number of doors and the people using them. We recommend the type of credential and platform after the assessment — not before.

Key Card & Key Fob Door Access

Card or fob readers with electronic strikes or maglocks, for a single entrance or every door in the building. Each credential carries its own permissions and schedule, and can be cancelled at any time.

Keypad Entry

PIN keypads for back doors, storage rooms and smaller sites — on their own or combined with a card reader where a door needs two factors.

Mobile & Cloud-Managed Access

Phone-based credentials and a web dashboard for adding users, changing schedules and unlocking doors remotely — useful for multiple sites or managers who are not always on site. Available where the selected platform supports it.

Biometric Readers

Fingerprint or face readers for server rooms, pharmacies, cash rooms and other areas where a shared card is not enough. We discuss enrollment, privacy and record-keeping with you before recommending biometrics.

Gate Access Control

Readers, keypads and intercoms for vehicle and pedestrian gates at commercial lots, yards, HOA communities and private driveways, tied into the same user list as your doors where the equipment allows.

Video Intercom & Buzzer Systems

Intercom system installation for front doors, lobbies and gates: see and speak to visitors before letting them in, from a desk station, a phone or both. Suited to offices, medical practices and multi-tenant entrances.

Access control works best as part of a complete plan. See also business security systems, security camera installation and 24/7 alarm monitoring.

Which buildings need commercial access control?

Building access control systems pay off wherever several people need different levels of access. These are the properties we see most often.

Offices & Professional Suites

Front-door access during business hours, locked suites after hours, and separate permissions for records rooms, IT closets and executive areas.

Warehouses & Distribution

Controlled entry for staff doors, offices and high-value storage, gate access for trucks and yards, and shift-based schedules for each team.

Medical & Dental Practices

Separate access for the waiting room, clinical areas, medication storage and records, with a video intercom at the entrance for after-hours visitors.

Retail Stores

Back-door, stockroom and cash-office control, so the right people open and close the store and every opening is recorded.

HOAs & Multi-Tenant Buildings

Lobby and gate entry for residents or tenants, per-suite permissions, and an intercom so visitors and deliveries reach the right unit.

Homes with Gates & Intercoms

Driveway gate access and video intercoms for larger homes, so you can see who is at the gate and let them in from your phone.

Why choose a local access control security company over a national vendor?

National providers sell from a catalog and send whichever subcontractor is available. BGS Security is based in Old Bridge, NJ: the people who assess your building are the people who install the system and answer when you need a change.

  • Licensed in New Jersey — NJ Alarm Business License #34BF00071900
  • One local point of contact for design, installation and support
  • Equipment chosen for your doors and building, not a fixed package
  • Access control, alarm, cameras and monitoring planned together, with compatibility checked by model
